Come December 31, there are always a few things that I wish I would've finally accomplished: run that race, lost that weight, gave away more stuff, etc. But, in 2009, I want to focus on 2 things that are of utmost importance. I hereby declare my resolutions/goals to the world (or, more precisely, my blog-reading audience).
- Commit already! I will find a church and commit to that church before summer, meaning that I will become a member (if said church offers membership) and get involved in some way. I haven't committed to a church the entire time I've lived in the Puget Sound area. Every few months, I stopped attending a church in order to really find my church, but end up finding some church that I only attend on (some) Sundays. No more! This year, Lord willing, I will finally, truly commit.
- Focus on the family. I will talk and send letters to, pray for, and otherwise involve myself with my immediate family on a weekly basis. I have taken for granted that my family loves me for the last time. There are some legitimate emotional needs in my family that I am called to fill, like any daughter and sister, and instead of avoiding that calling, thinking that my family is too dysfunctional, I am going to engage. For me, this is a huge challenge. And so, this is God's resolution for my year - without Him, I can't do anything right, and I am well-aware that I can't do this without His grace and strength.
Lesser ambitions would be to: definitely learn to live more simply, establish a running habit, and vocalize my appreciation of people more often.
What do you want from yourself in 2009?
